In 2004, Munandi Art Studio was established in Lusaka together with Sissel M. Bergh. The idea for starting an initiative came from my experience during a work period at the Rijksakademie in 2002 and 2003.
In 2006, we bought land in Ndeke Village and built our own structure that is also used for Munandi Art Studio, with facilities for artists (accomodation and studio). Munandi Art Studio is situated close to the international airport (6 km) and 40 minutes from Lusaka.
As there is no art education in Zambia, Munandi Art Studio's main objectives are:
. to provide an environment for young Zambian artists to develop their artistic talents and careers.
. exchange ideas and experience between national and international artists
. to offer art education to children of whom the parents cannot afford a school.
In Zambia, Munandi is affiliated among others to the Zambian Visual Arts Council.
